Rihanna has shared the new song “Born Again” from the soundtrack to Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The single was written by The-Dream, who previously penned her hits “Umbrella” and “Birthday Cake.” Listen to “Born Again” below.

“Born Again” is Rihanna’s second single this year, following the other soundtrack contribution  “Lift Me Up.” The latter was Rihanna’s first new song as a lead artist in six years and was co-written with Tems, producer Ludwig Göransson, and the Marvel movie’s director, Ryan Coogler, as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. Rihanna also released a music video for the track directed by Autumn Durald Arkapaw.

Rihanna’s long-awaited ninth album and follow-up to Anti- has not been announced, but anticipation is ramping up since she announced in September that she would perform the Super Bowl halftime show. In 2018, Vogue revealed that Rihanna was making a reggae album. She discussed the reggae theme again in a T: The New York Times Style Magazine interview a year later.

Earlier this week, Rihanna’s Prime Video special Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4 aired. The program featured performances from Anitta, Burna Boy, Don Toliver, and Maxwell, as well as appearances from Johnny Depp, Taraji P. Henson, Taylour Paige, Simu Liu, Bella Poarch, Winston Duke, and others. A jury recently found that Depp was defamed by his ex-wife Amber Heard when she called herself “a public figure representing domestic abuse” in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed. The actor previously lost a libel suit against The Sun for calling him a “wife beater.” As such, Rihanna faced criticism for enlisting Depp to participate in Savage X Fenty Show Vol. 4.
