The lockdown has been hard on everyone. Without seeing friends, going out to dinner or doing just about anything we’re used to, a lot of us are starting to go a bit stir crazy — but not Billie Eilish.

The «Everything I Wanted» singer appeared on the German Telekom Electronic Beatspodcast this week and talked about how she’s dealing with being stuck in her room at her parents’ house.

“I’ve been really enjoying being alone… It’s been nice. I feel like everybody on the Internet has been on FaceTime all day long with their friends,» the 18-year-old singer told Derek Opperman, noting that she’s got a full-time job right now fostering two puppies named for To Kill a Mockingbird characters, Jim and Miss Maudie. «I haven’t had this much time off since I was 12.»

Eilish has spoken before about how fame has caused some friendship issues, but she said she’s working hard to figure out how to meld her super busy schedule with their equally busy ones. «The weird thing is, like, normally when I’m home is the only time I get to see them, and now I’m stuck home finally and I can’t see them, which is super weird,» she said.

She’s not really Zooming or HousePartying, and if she’s being honest, she’s digging the silence. “I love my friends, I can’t wait to see them, I do miss them a lot, but at the same time, I’m good,» she said. «I’m good being alone – I like being alone… As soon as we can see people again and go out,» she added, «we’re going to be so happy and grateful.»

But, she joked, «in about three days, we’re all going to take it for granted again. That’s the way people work. It’s the way humans are made. You miss something so bad once you don’t have it. You never think about it when you have it.»

Eilish also spoke about her abiding love for Los Angeles, the power of saying «no» and her steadfast refusal to speculate on what her future life will be like. «I don’t really want to picture it because I don’t want to get my hopes up, but I also don’t want to think about it sucking,» she said. «Hopefully it’s good… I’m gonna try to just live in the moment and not worry what the future holds.»

The singer recently appeared on Elton John’s Living Room Concert for America fundraiser and James Corden’s Homefest: Late Late Show special after postponing her planned March and April Where Do We Go? tour dates due to the spread of the novel coronavirus.
