Hollywood’s biggest and most talented stars made an elegant and powerful statement at the 75th Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, stepping out in chic all-black ensembles in support of the Time’s Up initiative.

For this year’s celebration, women from all areas of the entertainment industry encouraged attendees to wear the dark tone as a way of expressing solidarity for victims of sexual harassment and misconduct in Hollywood.

The red carpet was full of black gowns, suits and jumpsuits, each uniquely styled to show off the celebrity’s distinctive personalities.

Stylist Erica Cloud told ET before the ceremony that we would see «a lot of variety” in the black outfits, adding that celebs would still incorporate their personal style into what they wear. “We’re all in this together, but we’re all different. I think overall it will be a beautiful scene.»

And a stunning scene it was, with many black outfits still standing out with the help of jaw-dropping jewels, exquisite details and delicate fabrics.

ET is rounding up the hottest trends that appeared on the all-black red carpet.

    Velvet

Men and women alike opted for the woven tufted fabric and softer feel. Sebastian Stan, Sterling K Brown, William H. Macy, Neil Patrick Harris and James Franco represented for the guys.

Globe winner Aziz Ansari looked dapper in a black velvet shawl collar tuxedo with a velvet bow tie and black shoes, all by Ermenegildo Zegna Couture.

Queen Oprah Winfrey was gorgeous in a custom-made Atelier Versace gown. The Cecil B. DeMille recipient wore an off-the-shoulder, fitted, long-sleeved black velvet gown with Swarovski crystal encrusted accents along the neckline and waist.

Dakota Johnson knocked it out of the park with a Gucci black organza and velvet thin-strapped gown, which featured a crystal buckle and crystal embroideries throughout the train. Mary J. Blige also stunned in a custom-made Alberta Ferretti velvet creation with a high slit and crystal net detail.

    Sparkles and Shimmer

No better way to catch the cameras’ attention than with a little shine! Ava DuVernay, Geena Davis, Octavia Spencer, Chrissy Metz, and Sarah Paulson added a touch of lush to their all-black looks by dressing their outfits up with sequins.

Kerry Washington dazzled in a strapless Prabal Gurung sequined creation with a high slit. Handmaid’s Tale star Yvonne Strahovski also sizzled in a black sequin gown by KaufmanFranco and even Dave Franco added a touch of shine with his Saint Laurent blazer, which features crystals on the lapel.

    Red Lips

Crimson lips were a favorite for select beauties, including Susan Sarandon, Claire Foy, Ashley Judd and Natalie Portman to name a few. Tracee Ellis Ross seductively donned a bold red lip to complete her smashing look.

Mandy Moore and Emma Watson’s bright cherry lipstick took a more playful approach. Meanwhile, Jessica Chastain and Isabelle Huppert made red lips look chic and elegant.

    Women in Suits

Claire Foy, Alexis Bledel, Susan Kelechi Watson, Christina Hendricks, Debra Messing and Alison Brie were just a handful of actresses who served up a dose of nighttime elegance with black jumpsuits and striking suits.

These ladies didn’t shy away from putting a feminine twist on classic menswear and made a major statement, while making a statement!

Handmaid‘s Tale star Bledel wowed in a black-and-white Oscar de la Renta jumpsuit. Maggie Gyllenhaal shined and shimmered in a custom Monse sequin top and cropped pants ensemble, as did This Is Us star Susan Kelechi Watson in a plunging sequin jumpsuit.

    Emerald Jewelry

The gorgeous green gem was among the most popular stone to accessorize leading ladies such as Tiziana Rocca, Laura Marano, Isabelle Hupert, Penelope Cruz and Ashley Judd.

Catherine Zeta-Jones frosted herself in $2.6 million worth of Lorraine Schwartz jewelry, including emerald and diamond chandelier earrings, a 20-carat emerald and diamond shield ring, and a 10-carat emerald cut diamond pinky ring. Issa Rae sparkled in a 100-carat platinum and diamond necklace with a 35-carat Colombian emerald center, and a 42-carat Colombian emerald and diamond ring set in platinum.
