Brace yourselves guys, because after you listen to Ed Sheeran’s cover of Britney Spears’ » Baby One More Time’ you’re going to be On. The. Floor.
Ed recorded and uploaded the 1998 hit (read: released when he was a mere 7-years-old) to Spotify’s ‘Singles’ program, which was announced late last November. The idea is that artists record two tracks, one being a new track they want to promote, while the other is cover of anything the artist wants to show their appreciation for.
With that said, the «Shape of You» singer has us completely shook with his amazing rendition of the pop idol’s signature smash hit. After all, he did have some big shoes to fill with this one, seeing as how this is the song that ultimately brought Britney international stardom. That said, strumming on a guitar, Ed brings a whole new, stripped-down element to the iconic pop song, with more of a raw, coffeehouse feel to it.
This isn’t the first time Ed has covered the song though — back in 2013, he performed «Baby One More Time» in a backstage video for a US radio station, making us swoon.
