Just when you thought “Fetish” had run its course, Selena Gomez drops a Galantis remix. From the lyrics to the demented video (with its soap eating and freezer shenanigans), the pop star’s latest single has always been decidedly offbeat. So it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that the Swedish duo’s overhaul is weird and wonderful. They leave most of the song intact, but hone in on the “you-oo-oo-oo” vocal hook — transforming it into a demented drop.
It’s not exactly a radio-friendly remix, but I don’t think that was ever the point with this single. Instead, it will build on the credibility established by “Bad Liar” and find a lot of love in clubs. While promotion has been extremely light this era, it’s nice to see Selena interacting with fans via a Twitter Q&A and incorporating the viral “find Selena” meme into the cover art of her remix. Give the revamped track a spin below.
